about: fanlistings
A fanlisting is a list of people who like something. Their names get listed, along with websites and e-mail addresses if they're so inclined. People with websites put up pretty banners that show that they like something. Everyone is happy and we have lots of fun.
Some fanlistings - including this one - are listed at thefanlistings.org. Hoorah!

about: the decemberists
The Decemberists are a five-piece band fronted by Colin Meloy. Other members are: Rachel Blumberg, drums; Nate Query, upright bass; Jenny Conlee, accordion, piano, and vocals; and Chris Funk, theremin and pedal steel guitar.
Their music evades classification - they get lumped in with "indie rock," but that's not really fair. Their lyrics reference literature, history, politics; they sing love songs and war songs and ballads. What truly sets them apart is their incredible storytelling ability - every song is lushly descriptive, creating a world populated by characters both fanciful and mundane, inhabiting places from our past as well as our present.
  Pretty much, they're awesome.
Discography, lyrics, and other extras can be found here.
The name of this fanlisting, "Shiny," comes from their song of the same name, which can be found on their Five Songs EP (which contains, of course, six songs). The graphic at the top is a slightly photoshopped rendering of the Castaways and Cutouts cover.
